Super Bowl Commercial Memo

To: English 111

Subject: Super Bowl Commercial

The group that I am in has decided to use Rhetorical Analysis on the Taco Bell commercial that aired during the Super Bowl 2013. The general consensus was that this commercial would provide the most information need to complete our task of writing an analysis style paper. Other reasons why we chose this commercial were because we all enjoyed watching it and could see breaking down the information in the commercial to the level that we needed.

Some of the techniques we will use to analyze the commercial will include the use of Rhetorical devices such as looking at the commercial and trying to “pull out” the Ethos, or ethical content. We will also be looking for the logical points being made, or Logos, and we will try to find what emotional responses are caused from the commercial, or Pathos. A few other devices used to review and analyze the commercial will be the way the creators used Kiaros and Chronos to their advantage.

In summary, the group that I am included in will be using Rhetorical Analysis in the form of Ethos, Logos, Pathos, Kiaros and Chronos to break apart and review the Taco Bell commercial that aired during the Super Bowl 2013.
